OLIVE JANET ROBINSON

(nee MCCOLL)

1927 - 2026

Mom passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the age of 99, at Grace Hospital.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Len; her brothers, Hugh, Tom, Don, Ken, and Jack; and her sisters, Helen, Gladys, Florence, Dorothy, and Muriel. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children, Allan (Anne); Audrey; and Andrew (Karen); her grandchildren, Shane (Pam), Chris (Christine), Christine (Ben), Kyle (Sheila), Rob, Dylan, and Jarrett; her ten great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Margaret McColl.

Born and raised in Elmwood, she married Len in 1952 and moved to St. James, where she lived for the rest of her life.

Mom was strong-willed and determined, always knowing exactly what she wanted, and she loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed curling and golfing and loved playing bridge and cribbage, right up until her final week at home. Mom also cherished time at the family cottage on Wendigo Road, which she and Dad built in 1967. It was her special place, where she especially loved picking blueberries on the back hill.

For the past 16 years, Mom resided at Sturgeon Creek II, where she was actively involved in the community and participated in many activities. She was grateful for the friendships she formed there, especially with Mary, Nancy and Ollie, and for the daily visits from Cesne. She especially looked forward to her nightly 10 p.m. phone calls with her son Allan, which meant a great deal to both of them.

A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at a later date.
